I just got the inspiration to start watching an anime based on kung fu, so I was wondering if some of you could help me. I’ve watched history’s mightiest disciple kenichi and am currently up to date with the manga. I’ve been reading Akaboshi and read the first chapter of the Kenji manga and thought it was pretty cool, but I couldn’t be bothered reading it (read too many different series as is) so if there was an anime version I’d be watching it, lol… obviously I’ve watched Dragon Ball (one of my favourite animes). lol. Essentially though, I’m looking for something that is specific to chinese kung fu and not really a general martial arts anime like Kenichi, but I guess a couple REALLY good general martial arts anime would also be nice aswell i guess. I’m being really specific in terms of the anime’s contents coz like I said, i just got suddenly inspired to look for it, and the reason why I ask people who know about the martial arts coz, lets face it, no matter how much you argue karate is NOT kung fu. I have nothing against other martial arts and their animes, it’s just right at this very moment i feel like kung fu, lol. So any help would be apreciated. Cheers.

P.S. I’m one of those people who also enjoyed Avatar: the Last Airbender, just to give you another view of what I like I guess.
yea… uhhh, cheers, lol. But ninjutsu and kenjutsu have little/nothing at all to do with chinese kung fu. For future reference for those interested. I do read/watch various sereis like naruto and bleach, but like i said. right now im looking for something specific to kung fu.
okay, now that i reread myself I realise I was being an asss to that previous guy. and for that I apologise. I realise now that I said REALLY good "general" martial arts anime, but I’d like to also added, that obvious stuff like naruto, bleach and inuyasha is really what i’m looking for. I meant really good anime that was also kind of "obscure" like yu yu hakusho or tenjou tenge, stuff like that that aren’t in the main stream (and that every body know’s about). Sothing new to me I guess, but then again you guess can’t read my mind to find out what i know and don’t know, lol. I guess though, I’m trying to give you guys more of an idea aswell. I know, i know, im a picky assshole and I apologise, lol.

The Legend of Condor Hero – all of the first two seasons have been subbed but the third season is only partially completed (unknown if it ever will be) but has many Kung fu masters in the show.

Asia is now predicted to be the world leader in future, but who? China, India, or japan?

This is still a question mark, isn’t it?

China is trying to expand its military power as well as its economic power to other countries in Asia, especially Southeast Asia. China recently focused on its military power and upgraded their army weapons to the most advanced technology.

The world looks at what China did and lead to a conclusion that "China is a powerful nation". It is wrong. China though now are living with their famous fake glorious, China, in fact, struggles with their internal lands problems. More than 90% of China residents are under living standard. China’s Government keeps the most of country’s income to perform military affairs and government’s benefits.

Most of lands China occupied by now is infact belongs to many other countries. We could see that by many languages exist in China. China government goverment other ethnic resident by its military force. 2 millions Chinese ethnic govern 20 millions people of different ethic.

For those reason above, China will never have the real power as its show-up to the world. China in fact have to keep their soilders at home to surpress their civillants. Suppose China involves in a war by now, it will serve as a chance for a rebel of pity residents all around the country, and China will be divided into many small countries as it was before due to lacking force to repress their civillants. China’s soldiers actually don’t have a strong national spirit as well.

Another fact is that, China cheated on economy, most of its companies backe by China government. And China tried to keep their civillants pretty poor to provide a cheap labors which contributed to destroy the balance of products price in the world and especially the US.
China, due to cheap labors, has steal all jobs from the US causing unemployment rates to rise.

In a near future, US is predicted to leave China for its bad behaves on economy, as well as the most advanced countries around the world. China at that time will face high risk of corruption due to the stagnancy of its industries. China economic growth will freeze for at least 10 to 30 years if the world stop importing China products.

China lives by sucking blood from the US because it can’t stand by itself. China’s civillants are too poor to make the economy to start moving. To start moving an economy, a country has to spend great a mount of money, such as a stimulus package the US just did recently.

China had no potential to be a dragon of Asia, and its future is pretty dark. Most people around the world recognize China’s products as a cheap but poisonous. Some other dislike China for its expansionism in both land and sea. Some hostile China for the key factor causing the economy crisis to the world. especially US,Europe Union…

How about the potential dragon of the future?

– India: a strong techonogy, great military, plenty of natural resources. India is now a self-sufficient coutry. Its infrastructures are sufficient to produce everything without foreigner investor. India, also have a very good relationship with Vietnam(the second Japan suspected) and most Southest Asia countries. India is mild, inversely to China’s expansionism.

– Vietnam: full of natural resources, adequate military strength. one of the strongest in Southest Asia military power. A fast recovery economy after few long term wars. Vietnam will be a self-sufficient by 2020(developed country). Vietnam possesses high tech tele-communication, has its own space satellites, 2 nuclear power plants currently in construction to meet the fast economy growing demand.

India is a big possible a next Asia dragon with its most advanced technology in the world. however, I don’t think Vietnam will be a dragon by 2020.

Vietnam is the most potetial country to be developed country. Look at its history, it had experienced so many wars in the past, and then isolated its economy for 15 years after war. It has been developing its economy for only 15 years; however, what it acheived is so much compared to other countries around it. Such as Thailand, it has been developing its economy for like over 60 years without war, and Thailand also lived under the blessing of US, so it has so much more advantage than Vietnam. But it has not gone much farther than Vietnam. I believe Vietnam will become a new Asia dragon by 2030.

For instance:
+ Thailand does’t have nuclear power plants which Vietnam does.

+ Thailand does not have its own spacial sattelite to provide network for its country, but Vietnam does, Vietnam also project to shoot a second satellites in 2012 to satisfy the needs of economic growth.

+ Strong labor force, and most are educated workers with 4 years degrees.

+ The big problems Vietnam is facing rightnow is its road infrastructure, and electricity deficit due to the economic growth.

Talk about Piccolo’s face, it looks stupid and Piccolo originally have two antenna in front but it don’t have.

Dragon Ball Evolution.

Yeah I too agree on that, the most crappy movie of all times.
That Kamehameha was something like a car exhaust, didnt create much of impact.
Goku looked like a kid with extra large suit.
And hell where was that wish granting Dragon from the Dragonballz.

Having been a huge fan of the first two Mummy films, I was again expecting another thrill ride from Universal as the lights dimmed – but that expectation soon turned to dread as I watched this iconic franchise descend into an absolute mediocre disaster! How Brendan Fraser ever agreed to even appear in this third instalment is beyond me and the slight fact that there are actually no mummies in this film only paves the way for its critical mauling! You see, a Mummy is an ancient Egyptian King buried in a Golden Sarcophagus who has the arguable honour of having his brain wrenched from his skull through his nostrils. He is not a former Chinese Emperor who was turned to dust over a thousand years ago by an immortal Witch! This time round, its China’s turn to host a doomsday Mummy-fest – why not? It’s hosting the Olympics and after all, downtown Shanghai is stereotypical Mummy territory right? Wrong, and director Rob Cohen’s first stab at the Mummy franchise has this word daubed all over the screen in bold, red ink, even more so if you’re a fan of the first two films. Here, the effects still live up but the whole aspect of character development seems to have been swept to the sidelines in favour of appalling jokes and Chinese fireworks. The relationship between Fraser and newcomer, Maria Bello is laughable to say the least and the only time anyone pauses for breath is to shoot or blow something up! The film also suffers badly from inaccuracies. In the second film, archaeologist Rick O’Connell (Fraser) and Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) were married and had an eight-year-old son, Alex. But now, just seven years later, Alex has suddenly become a twenty something-year-old Mummy basher! Also, does any one else find the inclusion of Mountain Yetis, or Abominable Snowmen in a Mummy film simply hilarious??? Both Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh are indeed welcome additions to the franchise and thank God they’re here – at least Yeoh’s character is believable and her brilliantly choreographed final battle with Li is visually stunning. Yeoh is also immortal in the film, well, any woman who has a two thousand-year-old daughter who looks about ten would have to be, unless the Chinese know something about Plastic Surgery us Westerners don’t. Whoever cast American actress Maria Bello for the role of Evelyn O’Connell, the posh, sexy, kick-ass British Egyptologist, formerly played by Rachel Weisz, should be shot! I found it remarkable that Hollywood had the cheek to replace Weisz, a fantastic actress who was a thrill from start to finish in the first two films. No doubt Bello is convincing when playing the right parts, but here, she just doesn’t seem to find her comfort zone in Weisz’s shoes, sporting an absolutely diabolic British accent which at times sound like a cross between Australian and Irish. Perhaps Bello’s slick dagger twirling and shooting skills are enough to make the audience not wish to see her get eaten by the Yetis and her revealing night gowns certainly add a sense of brief eye candy for male audience members. But Weisz’s absence is still severely felt…and missed. The film is hit with yet more bullet wounds in the form of its awful "humour" and desperately unfunny one liners, all of which sink like lead balloons. Take Evelyn’s brother, Johnathan (John Hannah), who to be fair was hilarious in the first two films but here, tries to squeeze every last drop out of his disastrous dialogue by pulling strange faces and constantly flapping his arms. I mean, one has to wonder whether the Screenwriters have any wit or originality at all when a huge hairy beast, who is bizarrely one of the passengers in a rickety aeroplane which almost crash lands into the Himalayas, vomits all over Hannah and the audience gets rewarded with the line ‘the yak yakked’. Save us!

Its not all bad news for Mummy 3, however. The Special Effects are at times, breathtaking and the spectacular, firework-laden chariot chase through the streets of Shanghai is certainly a highlight. Some of the Himalayan wide shots are stunning, presuming they’re not all CGI and for part of the film, the O’Connell’s transport is a ramshackle plane who’s Pilot is Irish and addicted to alcohol – what a surprise! But one is left feeling deflated and frustrated at the end of the film. After yet another, computer-generated battle sequence, which is by far the poorest of the last decade, we cut straight back to downtown Shanghai! As if the whole battle sequence was just a dream. No results, no conclusions, no characters going their separate ways. Its sad the film suffers this way because its not the fault of the actors (well, perhaps Bello), or even the director – it’s the Screenwriters and Editors who are to blame here and no one else. I heard the reason Rachel Weisz chose not to reprise her role as Evelyn was due to ‘problems with the Script’. That is the biggest understatement anybody could give this film and even if Weisz was in it, I don’t think she could have saved it. A disappointing; overblown and at times, simply ridiculous end to what was once quite an exciting franchise!

D

Does anyone else agree?

dawg i liked that movie. yea, its story was laughable, the romance was cheesy as hell, and i mean where the heck did those yeti’s come from lol? but it was funny. it was just different, i went in wholy expecting to be disapointed but i wasn’t. i laughed a lot, and the action was pretty good even if it was random and unorganized. i wouldn’t pay money to watch it in theatres again but i would definately watch it on dvd. "she is a tomb in which many pharos have laid" how can u not love that. but yeah in terms of story and seriousness teh first two were better. and they were darker i mean there were no scarabs and stuff in this one so i do see where ur coming from.
