Chinese Faces

Who knows what this chinese drama is?

i saw a few episodes a long time ago but stopped following due to my schedule. i’d like to find it again.

well there was this guy who was in the imperial palace and there was this girl he had there hidden. and he treated her like trash. he provokes her a lot, draws on her face and while she pretends to be asleep, once she was like tied up he smeared some brownish/black stuff on her face and so on. anyway the guy also goes about his official business. he meets with other officials and then he’s at this feast and performance he sneaks around and finds someone uncovering something hidden and hides it somewhere else. so then he takes it himself – it’s a book. then he goes back to the girl and provokes her again and pretends to be a zombie scaring her a lot. then there’s commotion and fighting in the palace and he rescues an injured girl and it turns out both the girls know each other. and this guy turns on his own people twice killing them. anyway the commotion was some assassination attempt. the guy starts helping the girls. anyway there is an investigation and the guy is off interrogating some other people and there are some weapons as evidence. and he gets like money off them. and then anyway he goes back to the girls, by the way he treats them much nicer now. well he goes outside of the palace and meeting with a lot of common people, nothing really seems to happen. anyway he goes back to the palace and then the prison where some guys are locked up in chains. they’re the captured assassins. he provokes them and goes back to the girls. they seem happy and then later on he stages an escape, misleading the other officials and guards. he puts stuff in drinks and they all drink it falling to the ground and the assassins change clothes with them and they go out the palace safetly.

who knows what this is? sounds a little weird i know anyway i think that guy is spy or something else he wouldn’t start helping but except the first girl it looks like they don’t know him at first or maybe it was an act. he did meet up with those common people outside the palace. maybe it’s a system where they don’t know everyone else involved but a way to find out if they are in the same group. though i really don’t know what is with the guy’s treatment with that first girl in the beginning and i don’t know whats her point in this because she did nothing, well unless she already did her job before i came to watch.

well anyway hope you know what drama i’m talking about.

Haha, if I’m not wrong, it might be "小宝与康熙" [Xiao Bao Yu Kang Xi] or ”鹿鼎记“ [Lu Ding Ji] – "The Duke of Mount Deer".
