The next comparison will take place between social classes. This comparison will determine the effect of social class on achievement. As an example, if there is evidence that within the low socioeconomic status group that Caucasian youth outperform Asian-American youth, it can be inferred that within that class of people and between those races, there should exists a potential component of variability that must account for the magnitude of difference. Ideally, because each student in that particular social class attends school in the same district, a better estimation of the role ethnicity plays in the process of standardized testing achievement.
