Why does the "beauty" in far east asia always mean you must have chinese face and fair skin?
Okay, my dad working with UN. last year he went to burma, he took a lot of pictures in burma, those are surprised me that most of the pedestrian burmese tend to look like east indians, beside far east asians. I actually find they have got beautiful eyes, all of them have a narrow nose tip ( look slightly Caucasians faraway relatives.) they also have got dark complexion like the east indians as well. but its curio used me.why most of the burmese celebrities, thai celebrities, Indonesian celebrities always have to the one who have got fair complexion and have facial features lean toward chinese or japanese?
why most of south east asians do not find their own ppl pretty? why many of the south east asian UN officers came back and say that the burmese are lesser attractive than vietnamese and chinese just because they have got dark complexion? yes, I know fair complexion look clean but I think when the dark complexion people have their make-up on, they look prettier than fair complexion far east asians.
Aroujo : precisely, most of east asians like japanese tend to have very fair skin than latino. -the dark one u seen, its not because of the genetic but enveronment.
I got japanese brother in law, his mom is from nortern of japan, he has very fair complexion and yellowish eyes. however, I do not find fair skin to be pretty.
My dad is caucasian and my mom is south east asian. I adore south east asian and indian tradition and culture. eventhough, I have got light complexion and straight hair but I do believe that most south east asians have got black genetic., the black people are beautiful, they have pretty eyes, narrow face and curl hair its what I like

I think it’s ignorant to base a humans worth on their external appearance. This just shows how ignorant some society are about self acceptance and in denial of who the really are. I’m of Spaniard descent and have pale skin as do my parents but I have relatives with darker complexions and think their much prettier than my paler ones.
That whole area (South Asia) was dominated by Great Britain for a very long time; long enough for the British to impose on the native citizens the belief that fair skin= true beauty. Many East Asians feel this way as well; they see the often light eye and hair colors of Europeans and believe that is the ideal look. Both South and East Asians are more concerned with having a "European" looking face rather than a "chinese" looking one. Double eyelid surgeries have even become more prominent in East Asia to gain the more "Western" appearing eyes.

Many studies have shown that there is a cross-cultural male preference for lighter-complexioned women.

The dark skin has to do with who you can tell works out in the fields. The darker you are, the longer you are exposed to the sun from working. I watched a Korean drama where this 16 year old girl told her 13/14 year old sister she looked like a rice farmer because her skin was so dark.
The western eye thing is because they think it’s prettier when your eyes are bigger.
Anyways, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
My husband is from Hiroshima, which is pretty far south in Japan, and he is very dark skinned. He hates it, he complains he wants to be lighter. But I am very pale Argentine, and i love his dark skin. So, our son has a nice completion of a mix of our skin tones.
